Associate Membership
-
Graduate students at Exeter are automatically granted ordinary membership status of the MCR. However, under certain circumstances, other people may also apply for associate membership of the college.
Associate membership comes with a variety of privileges, including:
Invitations to all MCR social events.
Access to College spaces, including the MCR itself, the Fellows’ Garden (best photo spot in Oxford!), the Dining Hall, and Cohen Quad. Note that the Library is not open to associate members.
-
The formal criteria are laid out in Section 2.4 of the Constitution, but in short, any of the following may qualify:
Graduate researchers who are not affiliated to another college.
Recognised students who are not ordinary members of another MCR.
Spouses or long-term partners of ordinary members.
Undergraduate students at Exeter who are either:
Mature-aged students.
In the fourth year of an integrated Masters course.
Employees of the College.
Former (ordinary) members of the MCR.
Residents of Exeter House for more than one month, except Undergraduates or members of another MCR.
-
Associate membership costs £120 for a full calendar year, or £90 for two terms, £50 for one term.
-
In most cases, Associate Members must be nominated by a current member of the society. Nominees will be voted upon during twice-termly meetings and and welcomed to the MCR following receipt of their dues.
The associate membership admission process is managed by the Vice President – to learn more, please get in touch by email at vice-president@exetermcr.org.uk. Please include a brief introduction including your name, any affiliations to the University of Oxford or Exeter College, and your stated interest in the MCR.
